Loreto Prague

Rights & Reproductions

Do you need to create a press quality photograph of an artwork from the Loreto / Capuchin collections? Here are detailed instructions on how to proceed.

Photography in the exhibitions of the Loreta Prague Museum is only possible for private, non-commercial purposes, without using a tripod or flash (more on the topic in the Services - audioguide & photo category). However, if you need to create a press quality photograph of objects from our collections and specially if you intend to publish this photograph, you MUST request in writing a one-time permission to provide reproduction rights. This permission is also necessary if you intend to publish a photograph of our collection object without being its author. It is therefore possible to order the production of a photograph or its provision from our photo archive.

The application must be sent electronically by email to Loreto Sanctuary's address.

The application must contain the following information:

  • identification of the applicant (name, address, institution)
  • specification of the exact publication (title, publisher, estimated date of publication)
  • specification of the collection items (artworks or archival materials) whose photographs you intend to publish (the title and location of the work are sufficient, for archival materials the signature is sufficient)

The production of photographs and the Permission for a one-time provision of reproduction rights are governed by the valid price list. The basic condition is the provision of THREE copies of the publication for our libraries. In this way, it is also possible to request the provision of a RR for artworks which are stored outside the Loreto Sanctuary building - i.e. in individual Capuchin Convents in Czech republic: Prague - Hradschin, Prague - New Town, Brno, Olomouc, Sušice. In justified cases, the Capuchin Province may decide to grant a RR Permission free of charge.
